This image came about on a crisp autumn night sitting around a bonfire with a couple of friends, the moon and stars shining bright overhead. As I sat and watched the flames dance in the cool night air, I could feel the hum of the earth through the soles of my feet, a vibration that seemed to reverberate up my legs and throughout my body. It was as if I could feel every cell in my body vibrate all at once. I felt this deep sense of connection and peace with the earth, the moon and stars above, my friends sitting nearby, and the fire itself. The flames would beckon me to join their dance, enticing me in this brazen romance of elemental design. The music in my soul overtook me and I stood in an instant, grabbing my Nikon DSLR camera to capture the playful, mesmerizing beauty that played out before me before joining in the dance and romance of the flames.
By air and earth
And love's tender flame
Her warmth stokes the hearth
No man can tame
With unfettered devotion
Through storm or morning mist
His fealty moves the ocean
No woman could resist.
By the light of the moon,
stars scattered overhead,
wrapped in a cocoon
of nature's quiet thread
Ember to Ember
and Ash to Ash
with one final spark
the romance remains
